A Collection of Things Not To Do With Your Landing Page

I saw this tweet a few minutes ago:

Which links to one of the worst landing pages I’ve ever seen:

Bad YouTube video, text that pushes past the right border of the screen, a lead form that matches the background color… He even misspelled, “effective.” Wow.

UPDATE: This webmaster has since fixed his border issue, respelled “effectively,” and called my blog “stupid.” You’re welcome! 🙂

  1. Wow.

That IS the worst landing page ever!

“The most cost efective, easy way to promote your bussiness online.”

“That is why you must have a lead caprure site.”

Yep, that’s exactly who I want to pay to build my landing page.

    Holy smokes…

  2. Thanks for the feed back. I really like your logo. I don’t see where the text is running off the border but I will fix the spelling errors. Thanks
I am not sure of the value you provide. It is pretty easy to be a critic. I will take your criticism with a grain of salt and make improvements.
    Thanks again.

  3. Not a problem, Trent. Just remember, this wasn’t meant as feedback – this was simply my sharing one of the worst landing pages I’ve ever seen. That you purport to do this for a living, however, is what so many of us found so funny.

Because while being a critic is easy, some days it’s even easier than most.

As to the text falling off the border, you don’t see it because it fits in YOUR monitor. To many of us, the text spreads off across the right side of the screen, so the only way we can read all of that nonsense it to horizontally scroll over to see it.

You have got to test this stuff, especially if you’re going to take other people’s money for this kind of work.

  4. I know it was not meant as feed back. I was trying to be nice. You on the other hand are an a hole. You blog is stupid and your not any better at spelling that I am. If you don’t like the service don’t use it. If I had nothing better to do that search the web looking for people to mock I am sure I could find many. I do test my stuff. You may have looked at it when I had an issue with the width for a time yesterday. It looks fine on my 20 inch and on my lap top. But I am glad that you found a spelling mistake hero. You had one in pointing mine out now that is FUNNY making the same mistake you are making fun of LOL. Why don’t you make a blog post of that? Any way Cico, have a nice life and try to do something positive.

  6. See this is why I avoid sharing ridiculous website mistake-er-y when I find it: I just don’t have the time to make all these new, exciting friends! [insert appropriately snarky emoticon here]
